JERSEYVILLE – A Jerseyville man accused of domestic battery against two including a child faces felony and misdemeanor charges in Jersey County.

The 37-year-old Jerseyville resident was charged with a Class 3 felony count of aggravated battery of a child under the age of 13 and two Class A misdemeanor counts of domestic battery on June 2, 2026.

The day prior on June 1, the suspect allegedly knowingly caused bodily harm to two household or family members, including one victim who was a child under the age of 13.

While the suspect was charged with a detainable offense, the Jersey County State’s Attorney’s Office did not file a petition to deny his pretrial release from custody. Instead, the defendant has been ordered not to contact either of the alleged victims in this case and to refrain from entering or remaining at the victims’ residence.

The suspect has also been ordered to refrain from using alcohol or illegal substances, comply with a Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) investigation, refrain from possessing a firearm or other dangerous weapons, and not to leave the State of Illinois without court permission.

The defendant also been placed on electronic monitoring and ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation. His next court appearance has been set for June 29, 2026 at the Jersey County Courthouse.
