Ventimiglia was highlighted for his performance in the recent Southwestern Conference Tournament. Coach Jesse Macias said Ventimiglia won in three sets in his first singles match before losing in three sets in the third-place match.
“Joe Ventimiglia had a great tournament,” Coach Macias said. “I’m really proud to coach a player like that. Whatever the circumstance or opponent, he is completely locked in.”
Joe is an Auto Butler Male Athlete of the Month.
The coach said Ventimiglia, the team’s only fourth-year senior, has also provided leadership throughout the season.
“He has been a fantastic leader all year, and we are going to miss him,” the coach said. “The players who put in the work all four years, you usually see some greatness their senior season.”
In one of his better matches of the Southwestern Conference Tournament, Joe defeated Collinsville's Timothy Doherty 6-1, 6-3.
Joe also had the best finish in the Springfield JD Sinnock tourney recently, with a fifth-place finish at No. 2 singles.
He is a four-year letter winner in tennis for the Redbirds.
