COLLINSVILLE/GRANITE CITY- Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the Collinsville community, Jimmy Ford and the Madison County Republican Party successfully collected over 100 suitcases, along with canned goods and toiletries, at their donation drive held Saturday, May 16, at American Legion Post 365. All donations went directly to The Good Samaritan House in Granite City, an emergency shelter dedicated to serving women and families in crisis across Madison County.

The event, which ran from 9:00 a.m. to noon, drew strong community participation and exceeded all expectations. Ford and the Madison County Republican Party announced they plan to partner with The Good Samaritan House on future events, building on the momentum of Saturday's successful drive.

“People are tired of division, excuses, and politicians who only show up at election time,” said Jimmy Ford. “Leadership starts with being present, listening, and helping where you can. The response from this community was incredible and shows that our values of compassion, dignity, and helping our neighbors are still strong.”

Every suitcase donated gives a resident a dignified way to carry their belongings as they transition out of crisis. Every can of food and toiletry item helps stretch limited shelter resources further, ensuring more women and families can be served.

“As families face rising costs and tougher economic times, local communities are stepping up to fill the gaps,” Ford added. “I’ll continue working for policies that make life more affordable while never losing sight of the importance of serving people directly.”
