“Dave was a beloved member of the Clinton County policing community,” Sheriff Travous said. “Dave started his career in law enforcement at the Belleville Police Department before transferring to the Trenton Police Department, and then on to the New Baden Police Department nearly 10 years ago.”
Sheriff Travous emphasized that Jordan was off duty at the time of his tragic death and “there is absolutely no evidence Dave did anything to cause this awful incident.”
“Today, many people who Dave has touched during his life are struggling to come to grips with his passing,” Sheriff Travous said. “I, along with those at the sheriff’s office, wish to offer our heartfelt condolences and prayers to all of Dave’s friends and family, along with his brothers and sisters in law enforcement, especially those at the New Baden Police Department. On a personal note, I would like to thank all who were on scene this morning who did everything they could to get Dave the medical help he needed.”
Travous said the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office personnel, with the assistance of the Illinois State Police, are actively investigating the incident.
