MADISON COUNTY - Illinois State Police Troop 8 responded to a three-vehicle crash with reported injuries on the southbound Interstate 255 at Gateway Commerce Drive in Madison County at about 3:32 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2026.
The three-vehicle crash shut down all southbound lanes, and the ISP diverted traffic from the area.

Preliminary information from Illinois State Police indicates injuries were reported, though no additional details were immediately available.
"All southbound lanes of IL-255 were closed at the location, and traffic was being diverted off southbound IL-255 at Gateway Commerce Drive," ISP said.
“There is no further information available at this time,” the ISP said.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible during the business rush hour on I-255.
