ALTON - The Hayner Public Library District to host Get Outside! A Survey of Alton Area Parks Past and Present book signing on Saturday, May 23, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Jennie D. Hayner Park, corner of State Street and West Fourth Street, Alton, IL 62002.

Get Outside! A Survey of Alton Area Parks Past and Present is an 88-page hardcover book offering one, two and 4-page photographic spreads with basic information and a brief history of the parks in active use in 2026 located in Alton, Godfrey, and Foster Township, Illinois. A book launch and signing will be held May 23, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Jennie D. Hayner Park, corner of State Street and West Fourth Street, Alton, Illinois. Meet the Get Outside! creative team (Alton High School Graphic Design Club students), the project supervisor/ Graphic Communications teacher (Lexa Browning-Needham) and the author (Reneé B. Johnson)!

Get Outside! is a collaborative project of the Alton High School Graphic Design Club, Reneé B. Johnson, and The Hayner Public Library District Genealogy & Local History Library. This is the third such project, following Alton ABC, a rhyming picture book published in 2019, and Color Me Alton: Seasons, a multigenerational coloring book published in 2022. All three publications will be available at the Hayner Genealogy & Local History Library, 401 State Street, Alton, IL 62002.
