The commencement ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2026 and can be livestreamed here.
On Thursday, May 14, 2026, graduating seniors stopped by the high school to pick up their caps and gowns. They could also register to vote.
It was a busy, bittersweet day for the seniors and the high school staff members who were assisting. Students were eager to receive their caps and gowns ahead of the ceremony.
Principal Stacie Franke expressed her excitement for the Class of 2026. She believes the commencement ceremony will be a powerful experience for families, teachers and graduates alike.
“You’re going to miss the connections, but you’re super excited for what they’re going to be doing in the future,” Franke said. “It’s a really cool class.”
Graduates must arrive at Alton High School by 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 16. Students have received clear instructions on how to dress, what to do, and how to behave.
Doors will open for guests at 8:30 a.m. and close at 9:50 a.m. All guests must be seated in either the gymnasium or the auditorium by this time. Guests in the gymnasium must have a ticket.
All seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. If you cannot find a seat in the gymnasium or auditorium, you can watch a livestream in the high school commons.
The district asks that families avoid bringing air horns, noisemakers, balloons and gifts into the ceremony, as these can be disruptive. Families can meet their graduates following the ceremony after the graduate retrieves their belongings from their classroom.
“Graduation isn’t just the end of a chapter, it’s the beginning of everything our Redbirds are capable of becoming,” Franke added. “We couldn’t be more excited to celebrate the Class of 2026 and all that lies ahead.”
It’s an exciting weekend for many local schools. The Alton Community Unit School District #11 team reminds graduates: Once a Redbird, always a Redbird.
