COLLINSVILLE/GRANITE CITY— A donation drive is set for Saturday, May 16, 2026, collecting suitcases, canned goods and toiletries for The Good Samaritan House in Granite City. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon at American Legion Post 365 in Collinsville.
Jimmy Ford and the Madison County Republican Party will host the Saturday event at the American Legion 365 Post.

“We're proud to support the incredible work being done at The Good Samaritan House, especially while families are struggling with high prices,” Ford said. “Something as simple as a suitcase can mean the world to someone rebuilding their life, and we encourage everyone in our community to come out and put people over politics.”
The drive will take place at the Collinsville American Legion, 1022 Vandalia St., Collinsville, IL 62234. Volunteers will be on hand to collect donations.
The Good Samaritan House is an emergency shelter that provides shelter and support services to women and families in crisis across Madison County. Organizers said donated suitcases give residents a dignified way to carry and store their personal belongings as they work toward stability and a fresh start.
Community members are encouraged to drop off clean, gently used luggage of all sizes on Saturday morning.
