She also wrote for the school newspaper throughout high school. She gave back to her school community as a freshman mentor, a role in which she guided and empowered underclassmen.

Harms was inducted into the National Honor Society, the Spanish National Honor Society, and the mathematics honor society Mu Alpha Theta. These organizations require high grades and many hours of community service.

Harms has volunteered at OSF St. Anthony’s Cancer Center and as a tennis coach at Tiger Tennis Camps. She also plays guitar for her church’s band.

She is a Silver Medallion recipient, which puts her at the top of her class. In her free time, she enjoys knitting, practicing the guitar and baking.

As graduation approaches, Harms is excited for her next steps. Just as they do now, her teachers and loved ones will be cheering her on.

“After graduation, I plan on attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to study chemical engineering,” she shared.

Congratulations to Abigail for this recognition by Civic Memorial High School and the DD Homes Network!
