ST. LOUIS — Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a man in his 20s following an overnight dispute outside Busch Stadium in St. Louis, where two contractors were working, authorities said.

The stabbing happened about 2:45 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2026, on the property outside Busch Stadium in the 700 block of Clark Avenue, according to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Police said the incident involved two third-party contractors working overnight at the stadium.

Officers responded to a report of a cutting and found the victim suffering from a stab wound, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

A suspect, a man in his 60s, was taken into custody, police said.

The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said the stabbing was an isolated incident and should not impact the broader safety conversation in downtown St. Louis.

The St. Louis Cardinals played the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday afternoon and are scheduled to play the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday evening.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
