JERSEYVILLE – Jerseyville authorities are investigating the recently reported stabbing of a juvenile victim pending felony charges against a suspect now in custody.

Police were dispatched to a Jerseyville residence on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at approximately 1:35 p.m. in response to a report of a juvenile stabbing victim, according to preliminary information provided by the Jerseyville Police Department.

“During the course of the initial investigation, officers gathered information that led them to the location of the crime scene,” the department stated. “Utilizing available resources, including City of Jerseyville video surveillance, officers were able to quickly identify a suspect.”

The suspect was then taken into custody without incident at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, and is currently being held in custody as the department prepares to present the case to the Jersey County State’s Attorney’s Office for formal charges to be filed.
