SWANSEA - Swansea Police arrested an adult male within minutes on Friday, March 6, 2026, after officers responded to a reported bank robbery at Arsenal Credit Union, authorities said.

Officers were called on March 6, 2026, to the credit union at 4384 North Illinois St. in Swansea. Arsenal Credit Union employees provided a detailed description of the suspect and his direction of travel, police said.

Swansea officers arrived quickly, located the suspect, and took him into custody within five minutes of the reported robbery, according to police.

Swansea detectives contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which sent investigators to assist.

The FBI will now investigate and prosecute the case in coordination with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois, Swansea Police said, citing “strong teamwork and swift response by everyone involved.”

Additional information will be released by the FBI or the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Illinois, police said.
