The call came in at 11:26 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from a nearby resident reporting a fire at the Captain D's restaurant in the 1900 block of Troy Road, the department said Thursday morning, Thursday, March 5, 2026.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire was undetermined, the Edwardsville Fire Department said.

“The building sustained enough smoke and fire damage that it won’t be able to immediately reopen,” the Edwardsville Fire Department said.

Edwardsville Fire personnel requested a commercial box alarm, bringing mutual aid departments to assist at the scene or cover for Edwardsville during the incident. Those departments included Glen Carbon, Collinsville, Wood River, Troy Fire, Troy EMS, Maryville EMS and Holiday Shores.
