MADISON COUNTY — The Salvation Army of Madison County is proud to announce a step toward providing key support to the unhoused community, in partnership with the Community Hope Center. The organizations will create a shared campus and unified space where our most marginalized neighbors facing housing instability can access comprehensive and complementary services all in one place.

"We are thrilled to join with the Community Hope Center to confront homelessness with hope, compassion, and transformational impact," said General Secretary and Greater St. Louis Area Commander Major Adam Moore. "This partnership represents more than collaboration — it's a bold step toward reimagining support, strengthening the safety net, and ensuring every person in Madison County has a pathway to stability, dignity, and long-term success."
The Salvation Army will lease a portion of the property as its Hope House, located at 1201 Hope Center Lane in Cottage Hills, and will continue to be a beacon of hope with this bolstered community partnership.
Hope House will be a 48-bed emergency shelter, offering safe, dignified housing for individuals, families and couples; private rooms with essential amenities; case management and trauma-informed support; job training and life skills programming; and be a launching point to permanent housing.
“We’re truly excited to partner with The Salvation Army and Hope House Emergency Shelter as we live out our mission of connecting neighbors through service and partnership to build flourishing lives and communities," said Community Hope Center Executive Director Ann Crane. "Together, we can strengthen support for families and neighbors who need it most.”
"In 2024, more than 500 people were turned away due to lack of shelter space," said Major Cassy Grey, Pastor and Madison County Corps Administrator. "This project more than doubles The Salvation Army's capacity to serve and meets a critical community need. Hope House will transform lives and strengthen families in Madison County for generations to come."
The community is invited to join for coffee and donuts at the Center on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 10:30 a.m. Media is invited to attend an 11:45 a.m. press conference announcing the partnership and next steps. Major Adam Moore, Major Cassy Grey and Ann Crane will provide remarks.
