HARDIN - The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office reported on Friday, Feb. 13, 2026, that all ferries in the area are open, after earlier ice conditions prompted multiple closures and service changes along the river.

In a "ferry update," the sheriff’s office said the Brussels Ferry, Kampsville Ferry, and Golden Eagle Ferry are all open.

The update follows announcements in January 2026 that ferry operations would be curtailed after a collection of heavy ice in the area rivers during the cold spell in January. Temperatures or wind chills were close to zero degrees for multiple days in January.

The Kampsville Ferry closed starting Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, “due to heavy ice conditions."

The Brussels Ferry also closed at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23.

The Calhoun Ferry Company reported that the Golden Eagle Ferry ceased operations at 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, because of the river conditions.
