GODFREY - Illinois American Water issued an urgent boil water order Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 10, 2026, for a portion of Godfrey as crews began emergency repairs tied to a hydrant repair on Vinca Drive.

The work was scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, in Godfrey. Illinois American Water said residents in the affected area may experience a service interruption or low water pressure, and that repairs are expected to take about two hours.

“At this time, the area indicated in the map above (highlighted in red) is under a Boil Water Order,” the notice said.

Illinois American Water said any water used for drinking or cooking should be brought to “a rolling boil for 5 minutes.” The company said water is OK for bathing, washing, and other common uses.

“Illinois American Water will notify those affected residents when this Boil Water Order is lifted,” the notice said.

The company also urged residents to avoid approaching crews during the work. “In keeping with American Water’s focus on safety for both customers and employees, please do not approach IAWC crews while they work,” the notice said.
