KAMPSVILLE/GOLDEN EAGLE - The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office announced that the Kampsville Ferry will be closed starting Friday, Jan. 23, 2026, due to heavy ice conditions.

Officials said the closure will last until further notice, and travelers are advised to plan alternative routes.

Additionally, the Calhoun Ferry Company reported that the Golden Eagle Ferry will cease operations at 9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, because of ice and will remain closed until conditions improve.

In response, the Winfield Ferry opened at 5 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, to provide an alternate crossing option. The Winfield Ferry will operate Monday through Saturday from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m., and on Sundays from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Officials emphasize that safety concerns related to ice on the waterways have prompted these closures, and updates will be provided as conditions change.

The Brussels Ferry is also scheduled to close at 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23.
