DESCRIPTION:Register Here Heartland Prairie in Full Bloom Join Ramona 
for a leisurely hike at Heartland Prairie (near Gordon Moore Park). Th
e asters should be in full bloom and we might even be able to do some 
volunteer seed collecting for TNI. \nHeartland Prairie is off of Colle
ge Ave in Alton\, IL. The turn in is directly across the road from the
main entrance to Gordon Moore Park. \nDescription: Roaming Naturalist
s is a monthly hike designed for adults (all ages welcome) that want t
o learn more about the natural world. Topics will range from birds to 
plants to insects and beyond. While each hike will have a topic of foc
us\, we will allow the interest of the group and the surprises that na
ture throws at us to determine what we learn on our hike. Meet your gu
ide at the trail head parking lot. Hikes will range from 1-2 miles (ra
rely 3 miles) and easy to moderate terrain. These hikes will occur rai
n or shine. In the event of icy conditions\, or excessive snow\, the h
ike may be canceled. The Nature Institute closes for the weather when 
Alton Public Schools close. Program Fees: Free\, but donations are app
