At 3 p.m. on Friday, June 26, 2026, community members are invited to the Wood River Business Alliance’s office at 61 East Ferguson Avenue in downtown Wood River for a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The organization will celebrate their renovated office and the accreditation with representatives from Main Street America. Following the ceremony, residents are encouraged to stick around for a reception and summer social.
“We are rocking and rolling,” said Wood River Main Street director Kristen Burns. “It’s just going to be really cool, with a lot of business owners and just the community coming out and celebrating and having a good time on Friday night.”
The summer social will feature food from local downtown businesses and music by Spencer McDole, who Burns said she “adore[s].” There will also be opportunities for networking and connecting with fellow Wood River businesses and residents.
The goal, Burns said, is to recognize the work of businesses, volunteers, community partners and others who support Wood River Main Street’s work. All of these entities have come together to promote downtown revitalization in Wood River.
Burns also joked that she is eager to be back in her office at 61 East Ferguson Avenue, and she hopes the ribbon-cutting ceremony and summer social are a fun time for community members while celebrating the next chapter of Wood River Main Street.
“I’m so ready,” she added. “We’re really excited.”
