Several shrubs surrounding the fountain had become overgrown and needed replacement. Thanks to funding provided by OSF HealthCare and the generous donation of labor by Sisk Lawn & Landscaping, the landscape has been beautifully renewed, ensuring this treasured landmark continues to welcome residents and visitors alike.
State House Circle has long been an important part of Alton's history. In 2016, as part of Pride, Incorporated Beautification's 50th anniversary celebration, the organization led a community fundraising effort to restore the fountain and surrounding area, recognizing its historical significance and its location adjacent to OSF St. Anthony's Health Center.
Since that restoration, Pride Beautification volunteers have remained committed to maintaining the site through countless hours of planting, weeding, pruning, and seasonal upkeep. This latest project demonstrates the power of community partnerships in preserving and enhancing the beauty of our shared public spaces.
"We are sincerely grateful to OSF HealthCare for investing in the beautification of this historic landmark and to Sisk Lawn & Landscaping for donating their expertise and labor," said Natalie Merrill, VP of Beautification. "Their generosity, combined with the dedication of our volunteers, reflects what can be accomplished when organizations come together for the good of our community."
Pride, Beautification extends its heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has contributed to the ongoing care of State House Circle. Partnerships like these help preserve Alton's history while creating welcoming, attractive spaces for generations to come.
