GRANITE CITY - The Edwardsville High School boys team has found its share of success, winning its own Dick Gerber Invitational tournament this past weekend at both the Belk Park Golf Course in Wood River and The Legacy Golf Club in Granite City.

Edwardsville fired a two-day total of 567 to win the team title for the first time since 2019, winning over second-place Effingham St. Anthony Catholic, who had a two-day total of 584. Normal University was third with a 588, Breese Mater Dei Catholic was fourth at 591, and O'Fallon rounded out the top five with a 596. The Tigers B team came in eighth at 621, while Father McGivney Catholic placed 17th at 661.

Edwardsville's Bennett Briggs finished second in the individual standings, shooting a two-day score of 136, three shots behind winner Logan Gowin of St. Anthony, who had a 133. Michael Shaw added a 142, Drew Cooper came up with a 147, and Luke Maxim fired a 148 to help the Tigers win the crown.

Brett Kirgan led the B team with a 151, while Joel Fields and Kipton Keller each shot a 155, and Carson Warto came up with a 157. The Griffins were led by Brayden Kerns at 161, with Sam Sink carding a 162, Austin Sanks had a 168. and Jack Stirnaman fired a 170.

It's Edwardsville's second team title of the season, having won the Madison County Tournament with a team record 281 at Belk Park Golf Course in Wood River.
