GRANITE CITY - Triad Wrestling’s girls team placed fifth out of 29 teams at a regional tournament Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026, in Granite City, earning four sectional qualifiers who will compete next weekend at the North Mac Sectional Tournament.

The Triad athletes will now have a chance at qualifying for the state tournament.

Triad's coaches described the team’s performance as a “strong” regional outing and said the wrestlers “battled with grit and resilience” and “made the most of this opportunity.”

Triad’s top individual finishers at the regional were:

  • Makena Steele, third place, sectional qualifier
  • Addie Roth, fourth place, sectional qualifier
  • Kaitlin Wood, third place, sectional qualifier
  • Beckah Burrelsman, first place, sectional qualifier

“We could not be more proud of this team and their top 5 team finish,” the athletic department and coaches said.
