FERGUSON, Mo. — Shannon O’Brien, 28, of St. Louis, was identified as the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred Friday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2026, in Ferguson, Missouri, authorities said.

Just before 4 p.m. on Jan. 30, 2026, Ferguson Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 1700 block of Windward Court. Upon arrival, officers found O’Brien suffering from at least one apparent gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ferguson Police Department requested assistance from the St. Louis County Police Department Bureau of Crimes Against Persons, which is leading the homicide investigation.

Officials have described the case as active and said preliminary details may change as the investigation continues.

Authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the St. Louis County Police Department at 636-529-8210. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-TIPS (8477), where a reward may be available.
