
ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — Two St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department officers were seriously injured and two men died following a crash on the flyover ramp from southbound Interstate 170 to eastbound Interstate 64 on January 23, 2026, authorities said.

The incident occurred just before 2:30 p.m. in Richmond Heights, Missouri, as officers in full uniform and a marked patrol vehicle responded to assist in apprehending a suspect vehicle occupied by three males connected to a City of St. Louis investigation. According to St. Louis County Police Bureau detectives, the driver of the suspect vehicle performed a U-turn, entered oncoming traffic, and collided with the officers’ patrol vehicle on the southbound I-170 flyover ramp.
Two officers, ages 33 and 38, with seven and 12½ years of law enforcement experience respectively, were transported to an area hospital with serious injuries and remain hospitalized. Of the three suspects, one was taken to a hospital with injuries of unknown severity, while two others were pronounced dead at the scene.
St. Louis County Police Bureau Crimes Against Persons and Accident Reconstruction detectives are leading the ongoing investigation. Authorities have asked anyone with information about the crash to contact the St. Louis County Police Department at 636-529-8210.
