(Photos by Ryan Schluetter).GODFREY — A two-vehicle crash occurred Wednesday morning, Jan. 7, 2026, in front of Alton High School in Godfrey and caused significant damage to the vehicles involved, the Madison County Sheriff's Office said.

The collision happened Jan. 7, 2026, when one vehicle was traveling south on Humbert Road, and the other was attempting to turn into the high school parking lot, according to Madison County Chief Deputy Sheriff Marcos Pulido.

"Unit 2 was traveling South on Humbert Road, as Unit 1 was attempting to turn into the parking lot," Pulido said. "Unit 1 failed to yield to Unit 2 and was issued a citation. Both units received significant front-end damage."

Both drivers were transported to Alton Memorial Hospital as a precaution, Pulido added.

It was reported to the chief sheriff's deputy that neither driver involved in the crash was a student at Alton High School.
