Following the meal, about 20 police squad cars transported the children in a parade-style procession, complete with lights and sirens, to the nearby Walmart store. There, the children enjoyed a shopping spree funded by year-long fundraising efforts.

“This event wouldn’t be possible without our collaborative partnerships with our neighbors,” the Collinsville Police Department said in a statement. “The payoff is seeing the joy on the children’s faces throughout the day and reminds us why we chose this profession in the first place.”

The department also expressed gratitude to Walmart, the American Legion, and the Sons of the American Legion for their support in making the event possible.

The annual event aims to foster positive relationships between law enforcement and the community while providing holiday cheer to children in the district.
