EAST ALTON — The Village of East Alton announced the winners of its "Night of Christmas" Christmas Tree Contest, held recently in the community.

Based on votes cast during the event, the first-place winner was "Merry Stitchmas" by Larissa and Lona Heeren. The East Alton Fire Department took second place with their tree, "Ring the Bell," while the Eastwood Student Council earned third place for "A POSITIVELY Great Christmas."
Judges also selected winners in several categories. "Best Creativity" went to "Merry Grouchmas," created by Cathy Carlton, Kim Kellim, and Kathy Opal. The East Alton Police Department won for "Originality" with their tree titled "Santa’s 5-0."
The East Alton Village Parks and Recreation Department received the award for "Best Theme" for their "Home Alone Bandits" tree. The Eastwood Second Grade Classes earned recognition for "Overall Appearance" with their entry, "Second Graders Are SNOW Amazing."
The Village of East Alton expressed gratitude to all participants, and said, "Thank you to everyone who participated!"
