FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS - The St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office has issued an arrest warrant in connection with the death of a 3-month-old infant last year.
On Nov. 21, 2025, State’s Attorney James Gomric announced a warrant for Shannon L. Williams Jr., 24, charging him with Endangering the Life or Health of a Child/Causing Death, a Class 3 felony. The charge stems from the death of Williams’ son, identified by the initials A.W., on May 26, 2024.

Fairview Heights Police Officers and emergency medical personnel responded to a call at the Winchester Place Apartments on that date, where the infant was found unresponsive. Despite immediate medical aid and efforts at a local hospital, the child was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
An investigation by the Fairview Heights Police Department and the Child Death Investigation Task Force included interviews, search warrants, laboratory analyses, and toxicology testing. Authorities determined that the infant’s death was directly caused by exposure to methamphetamine.
Williams remains at large, and his current whereabouts are unknown, the Fairview Heights Police Department said on Monday, Dec 8, 2025. The Fairview Heights Police Department is asking anyone with information to contact them at 618-489-2100. Anonymous tips are accepted.
