COLUMBIA - Waterloo rallied to defeat Father McGivney Catholic 64-57 in overtime Tuesday night, Nov. 18, 2025, overcoming a strong comeback attempt by the Griffins in the season opener in the Columbia Tournament.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a commanding 17-0 lead in the first quarter and held a 28-9 advantage at halftime. Father McGivney Catholic responded with a 43-24 run over the final two quarters to tie the game 52-52 and force overtime.

In the extra period, Waterloo outscored the Griffins 12-5 to secure the victory.

Emerson McGaughey led Father McGivney Catholic with 20 points, while teammate Zoe Oller added 10 points.

Waterloo’s balanced scoring and strong start helped the Bulldogs improve to 1-0 on the season, while McGivney Catholic fell to 0-1.
