FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS — Mayor Mark Kupsky presented a $5,000 donation to the Fairview Heights Area Food Pantry on Thursday morning, Nov. 6, 2025, to support families facing increased food insecurity amid the ongoing government shutdown and cuts to SNAP benefits.
The donation aims to help the pantry maintain adequate supplies during a period of heightened demand.

“With more families relying on local food assistance due to the ongoing government shutdown and reductions to SNAP benefits, this support will help keep shelves stocked and meals on the table during a difficult time,” Kupsky said.
The Fairview Heights Area Food Pantry operates in the lower level of City Hall at 10025 Bunkum Road and is open from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday through Friday.
Residents seeking assistance must bring identification and proof of residency.
Community members interested in contributing can drop off non-expired, non-perishable food items at City Hall, the Recreation Center, or during the Tree Lighting event scheduled for Saturday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Market Place Round-A-Bout.
