The 704 acre park consists of, (the south side of 140) 8 tennis courts, 10 ball diamonds, 27 hole golf course, 6 picnic areas, 6 play areas, , 11 soccer/football fields, restrooms, concessions, bleachers and a kid’s interactive fountain. The park also features nature trail, & memorial areas (workers’ statue, freedom shrine, hosta garden, , rose garden with fountain, & veterans’ fountain). The park also boasts a 13 acre fishing lake stocked by the idnr which is adjacent to the oriental garden and waterfall/pond. The north side of 140 contains, 10 soccer/football fields & 25 acres of heartland prairie restoration.
Carillon concerts Sundays at the Nan Elliot Memorial Rose Garden at 5:00 p.m. Memorial Day weekend thru Sept. Bring your own chair.
Fountains within this park are the kids', veteran, and rose garden 6 play areas.
Memorial trees have been planted to landscape the entire 704 acres and are still available for purchase ($75) through the park office.
In the course of daily operation, our Park & Forestry Departments often grind tree branches and limbs. The mulch is available to the public. This mulch can be picked up at Diamond #8 parking lot at Gordon Moore Park.
